[Paddlewise] Paddle stiffness

Matt Broze writes: "A little flex in the shaft of the paddle can be good ...."

As it isn't possible to make a completely rigid shaft, all materials having
some flex under load, isn't the paddle buyer best advised to select the
stiffest shaft and blade combination available? Are there any paddles which
are too stiff?
