Jack, I've mounted a waterproof switch (see West Marine Catalog) in a Radio Shack project box (sealed with marine sealer), and then fastened this rig with high grade velcro to the underside of the deck at the front of the coaming, just off center. This arrangement stays in place and is accessible by pressing *through* the spray skirt. While everyone knows I am not averse to making holes in my deck (I'll never be able to sell this boat), I didn't want a switch protruding and getting caught/broken on something. >I've got a couple of backup ACR flashlight/strobe combinations which are activated by some sort of magnetic rotary switch on a bezel outside the unit. Seem pretty simple, and would seem like a good option to activate a battery powered bilge pump. > >Anyone have any experience with anything like this for a waterproof switch application on a kayak? Any resources for switches like these which would avoid deck penetration? > >Jack > *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Jan 20 2000 - 08:09:52 PST
