For over-all foot (and booty) protection, I recommend a full shoe rather
than sandals.  Most everyone I paddle with just buy larger shoes.  The size
would depend on how many layers and what type of layers you choose to wear
under the latex.  My regular shoe size is a womens 5-1/2 but my winter water
shoes are never smaller than a 7 to accommodate my nice, thick wool socks
and the excess latex.
