Good form and timing will right most any boat. The beamier the boat, the more important it is to feel for proper timing and to slightly exaggerate reaching to the surface. Obviously an extended paddle wouldn't hurt either. I learned to roll in a very narrow boat, but since then I've sought out wider boats to enhance my technique. The CD Pachena is similar in cross section to the K1 and I roll that boat more slowly but just as easily as my Extreme. It is not as easy to learn in a beamy boat, but it is by no means significantly harder to actually perform the roll, as long as you have good technique. Find a patient teacher and you'll have no problems. Good Luck Jed (gearing up to teach more hydrophobes how to perform the last 180°'s of their roll) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Mon Jan 31 2000 - 16:53:47 PST
