i'm looking for any information/experiences folks are willing to share about
eddyline boats, specifically the 'merlin', and the new carbonlite 'night
hawk'. also am interested in hearing about impex 'mystic'.

thanks in advance-

Amigh:

I think the Merlin is an excellent boat. It's not my preference for a boat,
but it's a good boat. Perhaps a better question would be, compared to what?

The Merlin was marketed to me as more of a "day tripper" than an expedition
boat. It is certainly fast enough. It is more maneuverable than the Falcon
18, and has better bow bouyancy than the Falcon 18. The Merlin has more
primary stability too.

I don't know about the Night Hawk.

I've seen the Merlin handle really well in strong eddies... but, you've got
to be careful here. That is often more the paddler than the boat. I think
Doug L., for example, could probably paddle a log and look good.
