Wednesday is the 300th anniversary of the magnitude 9 subduction-zone
earthquake which rocked the seafloor off the coast of Oregon-Washington,
sending a tsunami which inundated native villages from Vancouver Island to
Northern California.

Great article at the URL above on what happened 300 years ago ... oh, yeah,
maybe we should camp a little higher for a while.  These things have a period
of smething like 300 to 800 years.
