Anyone else have tips for executing a good R&R?

I don't bother to somersault. I turn the boat half on its side, wiggle
halfway into the cockpit with my face out of the water facing the bow (or at
least the deck), and then take a deep breath and submerge to finish seating
myself. The rest is just a standard roll, which for me is always an extended
roll.

I think it was Julio MacWilliams who said that in rough water it is easiest
to then recapsize and fasten your sprayskirt while upside down, after which
you can then roll up a second time and pump out. This assumes, of course,
that you have a built-in pump and did not have enough air to get the
sprayskirt on during the initial recovery.
