Depends....if you get the good, expensive rust-colored disks with cloth
backing, then they'll last long enough for velcro to be a viable option.

If you want to use the cheaper white-colored disks on think paper
backing, then they won't last long enough that you'd ever want to switch
grits and then put the original disk back on.

For my 5" adhesive sander without dust-collection holes,
Cheap white Porter Cable disks are $8.00 for a box of 50
The good red JISCO disks are $20 for a box of 50, but last more than
twice as long.

You want to change paper often enough that you're always sanding with
fresh grains.  The white paper disks seem to lose abrasive faster than
it's worn out. These last maybe 5-7 minutes under constant use.  The red
cloth disks have plenty of abrasive, so it shears off for awhile,
exposing fresh edges, then the edges wear out.  These puppies last up to
15-20 minutes under constant use.
