Hi Woody..
My battery is rated at 3Ahr, and the Rule 500 draws 1.9 amps at 12 volts.
Your formula yields 1.58 hours of continuous pumping. Far less than the 35
continuous hours I mentioned (can't remember where I got that figure), but
still fine. At 4 minutes per flooding, this yields 23-24 bailouts between
battery charges. More than a week in standard-to-rough conditions, even
with rolling practice; or good for 2, perhaps 3 days of surf training
(although my roll is getting better).

You've convinced me -- some (warm) day I'll run a continuous pumping
test. Lessee, I'll dig out that book I've been meaning to read, ice up a
beer or two, set the kayak in the back yard, run the hose into the boat,
start the pump and my timer, and then just wait for the sound of the pump to
stop..... Science is tough, but someone's got to do it.
    Bob
