One of the problems with paddling in icy conditions is that you have to work really hard to keep making headway. Was out today, air temp around 20 degrees F, water temp around 32.5 degrees F, wind from the south at 20 -25 mph. Heading north the wind was at our back, so we had a little, but very little, glide paddling through the "snow cone" like substance in Lake Michigan. But, when we headed back south, the wind took all the glide out of our progress. Still had fun though!
