>> In "Deep Trouble", there is a comment somewhere that with a feathered paddle, it may be better to swim on your back, whereas an unfeathered paddle can be used like a crawl stroke, facing forwards. What do you think works best?<< It has been my experience that swimming forward on your stomach is easier with a feathered paddle, while swimming head first on your back is easier with an unfeathered paddle. While either way seems to move you along, swimming with a paddle in this fashion seems to require more energy over the long run then I really care to exert. More times then not I will simply swim in with a side stroke while dragging the paddle along with the rear hand. You could also throw your paddle ahead of you and swim to it, but I hate to be seperated from my paddle almost as much as I hate to be out of my boat :-) Scott So.Cal. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Mon Feb 07 2000 - 17:28:58 PST
