Which reminds me, I am planning to be at a handful of events in the next
few months to talk about folding kayaks and certainly would like to meet
with fellow PaddleWisers who want to drop by. We wouldn't even have to
talk about foldables, honest! :-)

March 18-19 Norwalk, Connecticut The Small Boat Shop Expo. They are not
set up for talks but I will be at the Feathercraft/Klepper booth (they
are the only folding kayak exhibitors there). Details about the show
can be gotten by calling 203-854-5223 or
http://www.thesmallboatshop.com. There is a $5 fee, I think I have the
rate right.

March 31-April 2 in Somerset, New Jersey The Jersey Paddler Paddlesport
show. As Joe Pylka says, it is less than an hour from NYC and a little
over that from Philadelphia and probably about 3 hours and change from
Washington DC. I will be giving a talk at 11:30 AM Sat and 2:30 PM on
Sunday. At other times I will be at the Feathercraft booth or hanging
around with Debbie Reeves at the Atlantic Sea Kayakers booth or at the
Anorak booth with Gabriel Romeu and others. Details for the show can
be gotten from http://www.jerseypaddler.com or calling 1-800-22-KAYAK.
The entrance fee is $7. This is a huge show of all sorts of gears and
boats. It may be about the biggest of this type except for the Rutabaga
one,, Canoecopia, in Madison, Wisconsin. Best keep your wallet at home
or take out a second mortgage before going.

Either April 8 or April 22 in New York City. Run by the New York Kayak
Company and completely on folding kayaks for the morning or the whole
day with on-water demos. They sell Kleppers, Feathercrafts and
Nautiraids. It should be fun. I think we are settling on the latter
date, the 22nd. Call Randy Henriksen at 1-800-KAYAK-99. There will
likely be a fee or you will be asked to make a contribution to the
Downtown Boathouse where it is being held.

May 5-7 in the San Francisco area. This is a weekend on folding kayaks
and will be based at a campground with paddling 10 or 15 minutes away.
It is being run by BASK (Bay Area Sea Kayakers) and I am a catalyst for
the talks, show-n-tell, gear discussions, etc. The Western Folding
Kayak Center will be there with boats to show (it sells all the major
brands of foldables). There is a fee and attendence will be limited in
numbers. BASK members will get first crack at signing up for this
camping weekend. I think you can pop in for the day, but I am fuzzy on
the details.

June 7th Washington DC area. Alexandria VA to be exact. At The
Atlantic Kayak Shop (1-800-297-0066) I will be giving a 2-hour evening
talk. I think their web site is http://www.atlantickayak.com

After all of that, even I won't be able to look at another folding
kayak. :-) Wanna bet!!!
