On summer evenings, I often take small flocks of newbie paddlers on to the
sheltered waters of our city's inlets. Sometimes they will persuade me to
demonstrate a roll or two (I'm very vunerable to big, admiring female
eyes:-). Though Vancouver,BC no longer has any heavy industry in the
downtown area, it does have a sewage outfall or two, and the beaches are
sometimes closed in the summer due to bug counts in the water. So if I roll,
I always squirt liquid Polysporin in my eyes and ears afterwards.
