I'm visualizing a towing rig involving about 18 inches of
pvc pipe on the tow rope that would allow close towing and
hopefully, high efficiency (drafting) and control over the
towee. It would run through the metal hoop (what's it
called?) to which the carrying toggle is affixed, and be
cleated near the cockpit. It would assume the towee has a
similar hoop on her/his bow.

Is that hoop strong enough?

I had a few requests for pictures of my tow system, so my camera was in
service to that end today.

The resulting URL is : http://members.xoom.com/gabrielR/022400.htm

A more entertaining way of getting there is through the daily journal
url below and today's date, february 24, 2000. Then you can see what I
have been doing the past couple of years.

Feel free to critique the system as seen, I have enough materials to
make another...

I like the way you tied in the bungie. Neater than some other arrangements
I've seen (typically a butterfly or some such at either end)
