Hi Ralf, We have just come back from 4 weeks paddling in the Caribbean (Islands of St.Lucia and Dominica) and found that it is no problem to take emergency flares on international flights. They won't let you take them in your hand luggage, but let us pack them in our checked luggage without problems. (I know that the conditions on the back of every ticket say something else, but this is what we found). And while we are at it: They would not let us take the CO2 for our life jackets anywhere, we had to leave them behind. Btw. we were flying Deutsche Lufthansa's charter-carrier Condor.
