The slider attached to my skeg cable broke in half for no apparent reason. I'm grateful that it happened on a short day trip in calm weather and not on a longer trip in high winds. The slider has not had any abuse and is a result of either poor design (wrong materials) or poor manufacture (stresses during moulding?). Replacing the slider requires cutting out enough glass to remove the stainless guide rod. My boat was one of the early versions of the new skeg so if you have a similar Valley slider (grey plastic) beware.. GRO is sending a replacement but they stated that if it wasn't in stock it would take over a month. I was able to repair the slider with marine epoxy and 4 screw posts but it's not a filed repair. cya Bob Denton Aqua-Gulf Transport bdenton_at_aquagulf.com www.aquagulf.com <http://www.aquagulf.com> *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Fri Mar 03 2000 - 12:56:37 PST
