>All you had to say was "...plastic SOTs." Yes Sandy, I was told by Mark Hunt (of kayakfishing web site fame) that plastic SOT's were good for trolling...I never realized the full implications of that statement!!! :-) << I'll just stick to silly little gear issues that people seam to love to talk about... >> >tch, tch, tch. Open mouth, insert foot deeper. :) :) and, following Ralph's sneaky style, I won't even make fun of your misspelling "seam" for "seem" Too late, you already did! I even put the PW list name in the subject header! In my defense, it was a bad day. I came home to three women running high fevers and barfing all over my two brand new Hunter Green couches (wife n' two small daughters). I was up all night and ended up in emergency in the middle of the night with the youngest one. Sorrrrrrry! >It was cool reading the latest Sea Kayaker and seeing your book report and Gary Luhm's article. I now find that when I'm reading letters I always go to the end first to see if it's a P'wise name I recognize. The review came out not too bad after all (I read it briefly in the store - have not got my copy yet). I _hate_ doing book reviews...one has to be critical in order to let readers know if the book delivers what it promises. Andy Knapp said he was happy with the review of his book, which made me feel great - given the upmost respect I have for him (I'm just an opportunistic hack compared to this man's brilliant writing). I didn't get to Gary's piece yet, but did notice a rebuttal on the head-dink issue and, I got flamed good over my tether article (for $1200.00, I'm not going to complain too much, though I was a bit upset with SK as I have an "arrangement" whereby letters-to-the-editor regarding my articles are supposed to be sent to me for response in the same edition - oh well! I was also a bit upset, because I _did- indicate in my draft the problem associated with entanglement, using my Trial Island incident as an example - but it was vetoed as too negative. And then they print from someone pointing out the dangers. There is no justice. Oh, I said I wouldn't complain - sorry. >With love and kisses, Sandy Kramer, Miami Same to you - you're enthusiasm is infectious. Then, Jed said about Misc Thoughts: >Hey Doug! > What's up? Are you trying to slight skin boats?? At least the plastic contingent got a mention. Granted some aren't confident in their choice and might be a tad defensive about the use of the word "cheap" but at least they were mentioned. We (some of us only aspiring) skin boat paddlers deserve some coverage too!! After all, didn't' we start all of this?? So what if we're even cheaper, sorry less expensive, than plastic that doesn't mean we should be relegated to the special interest groups. I on behalf of all past, present and future skin boaters demand satisfaction. (climbing down off my steam box) Well, Jed the jester, what about narrow open-canoes paddled with a long kayak paddle? I left them out too. I guess in my quest for brevity (as you have pointed out this need to me before), I decided to circumscribe the subject and cut the skin off the posting. :-) You Baidarka guys (and girls too, okay!) are always giving out a lashing! :-) Well, that about "covers" it!
