Hi Robert

I haven't paddled or been to the Scilly Isles, but its a very popular Yachty venue
and there is a lot if pilotage etc information available. Sitting out there in the
path of those Atlantic swells though I'd expect a high probability of the sea
being rough at this time of year, and  don't expect the Guinness to be the same as
in Dublin - the Scilly Isles are British, not Irish. I'm also not aware of an
Alderney in Ireland (although I could very well be wrong). Ireland as in Eire? or
are you thinking of the Alderney in the Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey,
Alderney, and the rest of the Channel Islands are actually nearer to France, but
are also British).

Whatever, If you are interested in paddling in Ireland have a look at the Irish
Sea Kayaking web site which includes Oileáin - an Evolving Guide to Irish Islands.
Ireland is a superb place. Infact have a look at the site whatever, the ISKA
newsletters are well worth a look whether you intend on going there or not:

And if it is as I guess Alderney in the Channel Islands your thinking about then
have a look at the Jersey Canoe club site. A very nice bunch of paddlers with a
very active club - they have the benefits of warm water, warm weather, great tidal
action, fog, and fast cats to keep them amused ...

In Scotland, which is also British so they say (definitely not English though, or
Irish, or Welsh, and somewhat closer to Norway than the Channel Islands!)
