I bought a pair of Patagucci's CFS paddling shoes at this year's Patagonia Outlet clearance sale for $25! I am favorably impressed by their construction. An inner neoprene bootie to keep the piggies warm and keep most gravel out, laces like a good climbing shoe, a full wrap-around rubber rand that goes up well past the heel for bottom of-the-cockpit abrasion resistance, and a pretty sticky sole (haven't worn them in the water yet, though!) Shawn Ralph shared this tidbit from a friend: >I get the impression that since it acquired Lotus Designs last year, >Patagonia is eager to increase its presence in paddlesports via >refinements of their fine paddling clothing line and other developments >through the very innovative people at Lotus. -- Shawn W.
