I have a kayaking issue that I have been struggling with for a while now, and I feel that a reality check might be in order. Paddlewise seems to represent a pretty good cross section of the touring/sea kayaking community, therefore I have decided to try and use you kind folks to help me out. I would really appreciate if I could get as many of you as are willing to respond to my little survey below. It's only six quick questions, which you can post the answers to on Paddlewise, or send them directly to me -- whatever's easier. If I can draw any startling conclusions from this survey then I will pass the results along to the list. 1. How many years have you been kayaking? A. Under 5 B. 5 - 10 C. Over 10 2. How many years have you been kayak touring/sea kayaking? A. Under 5 B. 5 - 10 C. Over 10 3. How many years have you been whitewater kayaking? A. Under 5 B. 5 - 10 C. Over 10 4. If you were to accidentally capsize what percentage comes closest to your ability to successfully roll back up? A. 25% of the time B. 50% of the time C. 75% of the time D. 100% of the time E. Can't roll 5. 10 being the greatest importance, and 1 being the least importance, on a scale of 1 to 10 how important would you rate the roll for touring/sea kayakers? 6. In the context of touring/sea kayaking how would you rate the roll as a skill to learn? A. Beginner B. Intermediate C. Advanced Thanks for any and all responses. Scott So.Cal.
