A final rule was issued Tuesday on the use of personal watercraft in The National Park system: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR National Park Service 36 CFR Parts 1, 3 and 13 RIN 1024-AC65 Personal Watercraft Use Within the NPS System AGENCY: National Park Service, (NPS), Interior ACTION: Final rule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - SUMMARY: This rule will prohibit personal watercraft (PWC) in areas of the National Park System unless the NPS determines that PWC use is appropriate for a specific area based on that area's enabling legislation, resources and values, other visitor uses and overall management objectives. This rule describes a process that will allow continued PWC use in some areas and will enable us to protect visitors and resources while managing the use of personal watercraft.
