Saturday the weather here in New England was lousy so I finally went to visit the Malden Mills outlet. The outlet is in Massachusetts on route 28 about a mile south of route 213 near the Lawrence/Methuen town line. I was told that prior to the fire the outlet was basically commercial metal racks holding commercial sized spools of fabric (3 foot diameter spools). Which needed to be wrestled over to cutting tables. I can't vouch for this as this was my first visit. The retail store is now in a nicely appointed space, it feels more like a shopping mall store than an outlet. They had plenty of fleece. The racks started with microfleece, then 100 weight polartec, then 200, then 300 weight. On a rack hidden around the corner in the back was the windblock, power stretch and thermal stretch fleece. Thermal stretch is fuzzy rubber. They had about 8 different color pairings of thermal stretch. I picked up a couple yards (60 inches wide) of gray fleece with a light blue rubber layer. It wasn't cheap - $18.99 a yard. Now to see if I can figure out how to make a pair of paddling shorts and a shorty wetsuit... kirk *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
