Can anyone recommend a book on maritime ecology, or oceanography that has a
focus on the polar seas (particularly the Arctic)? I am trying to find an
"affordable" copy of Bascom's "Waves and Beaches" (which was mentioned here
about 6 weeks previously), but really would like to find something a bit
more focused on the North American Arctic coast. Even a book (in English)
dealing with the Russian or Scandinavian circumpolar marine environment
might be of use.
I really would appreciate ANY leads....

Thanks!

Try "Arctic Dreams" by Barry Lopez. It doesn't get any better. Also some of
Farley Mowats works may be of help.

This is not very good, but it might lead you to a better source. Try Richard
Thomson's publisher, Gordon Soules, books_at_gordonsoules.com (604 922 6588).
Thomson's "Oceanography of the BC Coast" does what you want, but for the wrong
ocean.

I have a copy of Bascom's book, which I would loan to you for a while, if you
like.
