For sale, best offer: 21-foot, home-made, open water single shell. It appears to be a copy of the Maas Aero 21 (http://www.joyofrowing.com/maasaero.html). It needs a new seat, but otherwise it is in excellent condition. I believe the construction is laminated cedar and fiberglass. Five sculls are included. This shell was made by my brother-in-law, Colin Campbell, who died last week. He often rowed it on Mission Bay in San Diego. Rather than see it trashed, his son Allan, his sister Linda, and I would like someone to have it who would enjoy it as much as he did. Colin was a talented sculptor of wildlife working in a difficult medium -- sheet copper, brass, and stainless steel -- and he put as much effort and attention to detail into the shell as he did one of his sculptures. Since none of the family lives anywhere close to San Diego, Ed Gillet and Katie Kampe graciously volunteered to store the shell at Southwest Kayaks and Rowing until it could be sold. They are located across Ingraham from Sea World, and their phone number is (619) 222-3616. Their Web site is at http://www.swkayak.com/. Katie is the one to talk to about it; she knows its monetary value better than we do. We are very grateful to Ed and Katie for helping us in this way.
