Joyce and I have just started making arrangements for a Tonga trip (Ha'apai
for preference) in July with the Friendly Islands Kayak Company,
www.islandnet.com/kayaktonga/ , email kayaktonga_at_kalianet.to . They claim to
be the "sole licensed sea kayak operator in the Vava'u and Ha'apai
archipelagos", so unless they will rent you a kayak you might be out of
luck.

You might also find that even if they do freedom rentals, they will not hire
out to a solo paddler, so you might need that friend or make your wish list
come true!

Good luck anyway,
