Subject: [Paddlewise] Garmin eTrex GPS

Hi,

to get a first impression you could download both eTrex manuals
from Garmin's webpage. There is also a gps usenet group were
some aspects of the eTrex were recently discussed. Use
dejanews to scan for these articles. I did that, and found that it has
all the functions I expected. Some features of more expensive
units are missing, but that's the price you pay (less). If you can life
without some functions than you get good value for your money.
And if you loose it it wouldn't hurt to much.
Here in Halifax/Canada the eTrex is physically not existing. None
of the dealers, even the official Garmin reps, has one in his store -
but already a waiting list of customers-. I am looking forward to
hold one in my hand and play with it....... I love new toys for big
kids ;)

Cheers

Ulli
