>> Since I am introducing myself here, I should mention to the one whose name is in my deleted files that I can make you a custom length Greenland style paddle if the $190 price tag is not too steep. The blades are not customized, but they are fairly universally appropriate (3 1/2" wide at the tip) and pretty comfortable. The loom is slightly smaller in diameter than purists would make, and more oval as well. The paddle has gotten good reviews from those who use it. That said, I too actually recommend trying to make your own from a straight grained cedar or spruce two by four. It is an inexpensive, fun, and rewarding way to get a nice paddle. I am more than happy to give paddle design or woodworking advice to you as you progress, or to anyone else, for that matter, who undertakes to make their own paddle.
