I listed a couple boats on various newsgroups and websites for free. A couple of the websites, I later discovered, had no way to remove them once sold. Many months later I'm getting emails from folks regarding the boats which have long since found new homes. I always respond to the emails since I wouldn't like to be left hanging out there while looking to buy a boat. If your listing a boat for sale, stick with newgroups which die on their own, or make sure the website has a method to remove the item once sold.
