Is there a "rule of thumb" about the annual depreciation of a composite sea kayak's value? With cars it's simple to calculate based on age and mileage, but what about with boats? Let's say about is $2500 new. My sense is that after a year it should be about $2000. But what about after 3 years? 5 years? 7 years? Assuming the boat is in good condition, I would expect the used price to level out at some figure. 50 percent of its new value? 40 percent? Perhaps there's a rule of thumb from the world of power boats and sailboats. Would it apply to sea kayaks?
