I'm planning a long solo trip from Seattle to Juneau, and the cost of charts could run into several hundred dollars. Does anyone know of a way to obtain British Columbia coastal charts for anything less than the government-regulated price, which here in the US translates to US$16-20, depending on the retailer I talked to? One retailer in Seattle is willing to sell photocopies of US charts for $6.50 apiece, but he can't copy the Canadian charts because of copyright restrictions. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard of people doing this trip with nothing other than AAA maps for guidance, and others have recommended taking as detailed maps as I can find. I tend toward the latter approach... B. C.
