Dave Seng suggested salt water might produce "edible but unpalatable" oatmeal. I found it neither when I tried it in New Zealand many years ago. It might be OK in Alaska or BC, at the very end of a fiord, with countless streams and rivers diluting the sea water. I know I couldn't taste the difference between river and seawater at Bella Coola. (But it had been raining pretty hard that week.) YMMV!
