My reaction to Chris Duff's book was similar to Andree Hurley's. I heard Chris give a presentation about his trip, then bought and read the book. Perhps it's not a "great book", but it is a very good book, well worth reading. I admire his courage and his kayaking skills, far beyond anything I can imagine myself doing. But I can really identify with his sense of spirituality while paddling, and while visiting places which were new to him. This sort of inner journey is the essence of the kayaking experience for me.
