I disagree they are that similar.  "Just a coincidence"?  Do you mean 
was I aware of that logo?  No.  Circular logos with lettering
around the perimeter are not uncommon. The use of a variety of paddles 
to indicate different types of paddling is obviously a no-brainer 8-} 
(the quantity and style of paddles differ).  I will not be surprised to 
find if there will be more logos out there with a somewhat similar idea 
(though I am unaware of them at this time).

btw, since folks here expressed the desire to use the logos as a means
of identifying each other, I left an empty area around the bottom half of 
the circle so folks could use the area to write in their names on stickers
if they so desire... another no-brainer :-)
