G'Day,
        Apologies to paddlewisers I forgot to include a factor in my 
equation for wave energy - it should read p*g*0.36*H*V where H = horizontal 
distance from peak to trough and V = vertical distance from peak to trough 
of the wave. p is the density of sea water and g the acceleration due to 
gravity.
        The equation was calculated by taking a sine wave as representing 
the cross section of a wave and the energy value calculated is energy per 
unit width of the wave.
