Arthur Hebert's post reminded me that I had paddled unfeathered for about the first two years, then switched after I spent a couple of days learning the basics of whitewater paddling. I decided that since I wanted to do more WW paddling (even if infrequently), and since all WW paddles are feathered, I had better learn to paddle feathered. There's nothing like missing a brace (because you're used to the "wrong" paddle) when that rock is approaching toot sweet!
