There was an article in our local paper last night about a kayaker rescuing a woman on Okanagan Lake, British Columbia. Apparently a man named Brian Ball, from Kelowna, was driving his car (with kayak on the roof) when he was stopped by a man who explained that a woman was in danger. Her seven year old son had drifted away from shore on an air mattress and she had tried to swim to get him. The water was described as frigid. Brian took his boat off the roof, paddled out and rescued the woman who was hypothermic and barely afloat. There was no mention of the son, and presumably he was also retrieved.
