[Paddlewise] locking a kayak to a roof rack

How does one securely lock a kayak to a roof rack. Running a cable through
elastic deck straps just won't cut it. I have just started building a Pygmy
and I will build something into it to attach to if I need to. Thanks in
advance for your answers.
