[Paddlewise] GPS use on the way to the put-in

OK, after hearing everyone go on about SA being turned off, I've finally
decided I should break down and buy my first GPS. I've tried to keep up
with most of the GPS posts and have done some Dejanews searching, but I
haven't seen much talk about using them on the way to the put-in. Is
anyone using one of the units with street map features for driving
directions and using it on the water?

As much as I'm reading a map to drive to all the new places to paddle,
it seems the GPS (with street map features) could get more use in the
car than on the water. Or am I better off to stick with my DeLorme
Gazetteer (regular old map) in the car and just buy a basic GPS for use
on the water?

Thanks,
Frank
