These are books, not sites, Rich, but you'll probably find them 
useful. I know that I do.


Alan Watts. _Instant Weather Forecasting_. (also _Instant Wind 
Forecasting_). Be your own meterologist! Cloud photos. Forecasting 
tables. The necessary minimum of theory. A UK perspective, but 
weather's weather, after all. 

Alan Watts. _Wind and Sailing Boats_. Not just for sailors! How 
terrain and local conditions affect the weather "right now, right 
here." A useful companion to Watt's general forecasting guides 
(above).

Also,

Jeff Renner. _Northwest Marine Weather from the Columbia River to Cape 
Scott_. Not really "northern Canada," but worth a look anyway, if only 
for the Chapter 8 ("Field Forecasting Guidelines").
