Good morning,

I do a lot of birding from my kayak and find it one of the best ways to
bird. Birds appear to be much less threaten by my kayak on the water than
when I walk through the woods. Last weekend, I watched a Red Shouldered
Hawk from a river bank for about thirty minutes. Osprey seem to be
comfortable fishing with the kayak in the area as well.

I have noticed the same thing with other animals as well. Beavers will swim
within four or five feet of my kayak when I sit quietly near their lodge.
They would never come that close on land.

Of course, the turtles still dive for cover far in advance of my arrival.

I don't know if the color of the kayak makes a difference or not. I have a
granite colored, light speckled gray kayak.

Regards,

Jim Fitzgerald
