It is one of the best parts, I love birding. Lately I've been forgetting
some of their names (?), but...yesterday was an unusually beautiful day
and we left at three for an afternoon paddle.
There is a big old tower on the other side and as we approached an eagle
settled down and scared all the cormorants and gulls away. They circled,
waiting for the eagle to leave, and the gull started diving at it. I
figure the gull had a nest up there. Finally all the birds without a
vested interest (the cormorants) (sp?) left and the gull kept bothering a
nonchalant eagle.

At the island the sea gulls were all spread out, we figured they were
nesting. Every so often something would scare them and they would all
rise. They didn't mind us. I know in some cases kayakers can scare birds
however, and if they are nesting they could leave their egss for bigger
prey.

We often go at six in the morning and if you do it all the time the
migratory birds are really obvious.
