Can someone tell me the tide reference points for Meares, Vargas, Flores island in Clayoqout Sound, BC? Thank you! Any suggestions of good b and b's in the area for first and last days? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************

Don't have a decent chart for Clayoquot, and my travel map does not show Riley Cove. However, its Lat/Lon (49 degrees 23 min N; 126 degrees 13 min W) puts it on the northern edge of where you want to paddle, I believe, some 15-20 nautical miles NNW of Tofino. The two stations show almost identical timings and heights for high and low, so they are probably typical of the outer parts of Clayoquot Sound. There is a NOAA station (Clayoquot) at the same Lat/Lon as Tofino, although it shows very slightly different high and low values -- probably because of differences in how they run their tide algorithm. If you want, I can email you a tide table for the day(s) you plan to be there. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
Hi Anne, You may try the paddlers inn on top of Tofino Sea Kayaking Co. Rooms start at $45 a night with shared bathroom and a great breaky in the morning. Also, you can launch from the beach in front of TSKC. I would highly advise reservations as they are moving into their busy season. I just got back from a three day paddle of Vargas Isl. and ended up at the Inn rather than another night in the tent at Green Point. Cheers!
