My kayak bag arrived today from Outdoor Solutions. I custom ordered the bag
in April (took a little longer to get than I had hoped). It's great. It's
made from a tough synthetic fabric that feels a bit like Sunbrella but
smoother. The bag fits nicely over the whole boat, but folds up into a small
package that fits into a carry pouch that comes with it. There is a sturdy 14
foot zipper that runs along the aft part of the top of the bag. You just open
the zipper and slide the boat in, then pull the bag over the back half of the
boat and zip it up. There are six cinch straps to snug it up tight, and there
are eight carry straps at various points. The ends are reinforced with a very
tough fabric. It's useful for car-topping (avoid rock damage, etc), and for
storage. I ordered mine in forest green, because I wanted it to serve the
additonal function of allowing me to "camouflage" the boat when I park it on
the shore or in the woods to go hiking for a day or two. I'm really pleased
with the product over all, and would not hesitate to recommend it. The
company is based in Toronto and seems to be run by a guy named Tom Benian --
very nice fellow. Caveat: I have no knowledge of the company other than this
one experience, and have no financial stake or interest. The web site is:
www.greenval.com/outdoor.html

They make other products, as well, like canoe covers, paddle bags, etc. Just
thought I'd pass along to the list this information, especially since someone
was recently asking about kayak covers.
