I have been using a sampling station at the battery which is right below
the boathouse.

This reports about 59 degrees.

I am including the full URL:
http://www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/plotqry.cgi?stnid=8518750+The+Battery,+NY+&flag=1

If this URL gets garbled you can click your way to it from:
	http://www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov
Just keep looking for the Battery in New York Harbor.

You have to convert the temperature from Celsius if you are an American:
    32 + (temp_in_celc * 1.8) = temp_in_faren
