Verlen Kruger's designs, the Sawyer Loon, Mad River Monarch, and Kruger
Ventures' Dream Catcher were/are sort of closed canoes that could be paddled
with a single or double blade paddle. Significantly here the seat is raised
about 6 inches above the hull (and may be adjustable higher or lower).
Verlen Kruger, Steve Landick, and Valerie Fons used these kayak/canoes to
make some incredible journey's in the 80's. 28,000 miles around North
America by paddle and portage and the Arctic Circle to Antarctic Circle
Expedition were the biggest. Might be worth looking at. KRUGER

running yet).

BC's Western Canoeing www.clippercanoes.com has two partially closed
canoe/kayaks called the Seaclipse (15-9) and the Sea-1 (17-9) which are
along the same idea as Verlen's boats (but not made only with about 14
layers of Kevlar like Verlen's so are a lot less money). Seats adjust from 3
to 6" high. All these cane/kayaks are 28 inches wide.
