it will certainly place a crimp in the enjoyment we all currently get from
 our sport.

Harold and All,

To reduce the amount of kayakers at the Channel Islands in Southern
California and to increase the likelihood that the kayakers there are
skilled, I have a proposal: Don't allow the boats to ferry kayaks over to the
island. In other words, if you want to kayak at the Channel Islands, you
have to paddle the 11 NM crossing to Anacapa Island or the 18 NM crossing to
Santa Cruz Island and so on. It certainly would reduce the amount of
kayakers there, because most of them are unwilling to make the crossings.
Also, those who are capable of making the crossings more than likely have the
kayaking skills to stay out of trouble. If they don't have the skills and
still make the crossings, then they still deserve to be there because of
their good luck and guts.

Now let me climb down from this giant pedestal before I fall and kill myself.
