Mr. Stohrer, I am a subscriber to Paddlewise and I wish to thank you for taking the time to educate us regarding the waterproof standards for radios. This really is most wanted info. I have some follow-up questions. We have had some people report problems with radios and GPS units which were deemed to be waterproof. It turned out that the units were indeed waterproof, however the battery compartments were not. Can a radio claim the JIS-7 rating with a battery compartment that is not waterproof? Do the battery compartments on your models RAY102 and RAY106 perform in a waterproof manner?
