Re: [Paddlewise] eskimo roll

It took me several months of concerted practice and several sessions of
instruction. I had read the books and I had watched Grace Under Pressure, I
don't know how many times. The breakthrough came with the right instructor.
George Gronseth of Seattle immediately spotted what I was doing wrong and in
about 15 minutes had me rolling. I've been rolling ever since. After about
500 rolls, you'll be getting pretty good at it. After about 1000 rolls, you
will be pretty darned reliable. Once you get the roll down, practice both
sides.

Caveat! Caveat! Caveat!: Rob Cookson said it here recently on Paddlewise:
"Less is more."

When I first learned to roll, one afternoon I went out to practice and did
over 100 rolls (I was counting). The next day I discovered what my "rotator
cuff" was. It was 6 mos. before I could paddle again.

Remember Rob's words: "Less is more!"
