[Paddlewise] seized up rudder cable

I have a Tred Avon double homebuilt CLC with a rudder kit (I think it is a
feathercraft manufacture).  My rudder cable seems to seize up/freeze up or
generally stick on me quite frequently.

Any suggestions on how to lubricate the cable or solve the problem ?  Any
suggestions on routine maintenance so the problem doesn't reoccur ?
