When using four people to carry a kayak, I like using a long strap where 
everyone wraps the straps around their shoulders and hold the strap with the 
hand furthest away from the kayak.  This takes the weight off your arms.  
Also, it's a lot easier when the paddlers are different heights -- at least 
for the shorter paddlers when those tall paddlers lift up the boats and all 
the weight falls on the shorter guy.  With the straps, you can adjust so the 
kayak lifts evenly.  Although not so important in a single, this technique 
is great if there's a double you have to lift.

I'm looking for toggles... four of them.  Where to get them?

A kayaking buddy had a pair of two toggles tied together with a strap.  They
made a great carry for a loaded kayak.  Four can carry a loaded kayak so
much easier than two!  Or four with straps can do so much better than one on
each end and one on each side of the cockpit.
